Tips for Working from Home During Coronavirus (Part 2)
For some, home has long been a coveted workplace—often touted by social media influencers, affiliate marketers, and those in tech as being the pinnacle of work environments. For others, working from home can be an unstructured and isolating experience. In part two of this working from home blog series, McCauley Marketing Services will show you how you can stay safe and stop the spread of Coronavirus through social distancing and proper hygiene while also maintaining a productive work schedule.
Clean your technology. Chances are, if you are working remotely, you are working from digital devices such as laptops, iPads, and smartphones. However, these items are a breeding ground for germs. Keep your devices clean with antibacterial wipes and wash your hands periodically. The last thing you want is to touch your phone to your face after you’ve used it with dirty hands.
Make time for outside activities. Make time to go outside or exercise for your mental and physical well-being. Fresh air and sunlight can do wonders for heightening your mental focus during the day. Take your dog for a walk, do an at home workout, or work from a nice porch for a while. This will also help break up your day.
Remain present. Just because you’re practicing physical social distancing, doesn’t mean you have to feel isolated. Take advantage of work group chats. Without in-person interaction, working from home can get lonely. It’s important that you don’t feel isolated as this can lead to depression. Take active steps to remain connected to your job and coworkers. Make an effort to be responsive to work-related texts, calls, and emails. Your boss cannot see you when you are working from home and likely isn’t micromanaging you. However, work still must get done on a daily basis. In a home-based system, each person is accountable for their production. Staying in communication and remaining responsive will help your boss to know that you are a consistent and reliable worker.
Take a break. Although you should remain present throughout your workday, it is also vital that you take breaks. It can be tempting to over-exert yourself while working from home because you can work anytime. However, taking a break for lunch, a brisk walk, or a moment to clear your head can help you reset and focus. A small break can help you feel rested and can make the hours that you are working even more productive.
