What We’ve Learned About COVID-19 Through Medical Marketing
As a marketing company with many medical clients, we thought we would do our part to share updated information as it becomes available. We believe that current and accurate medical information can be powerful, particularly in the case of the new COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic—it can be lifesaving.
Please note that if you become ill, it is urgent that you self-quarantine and notify your workplace of your child’s school immediately. If your symptoms become unmanageable or if you notice difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion, or bluish lips or face, call 911 immediately.
This blog is written to the community in an attempt to keep everyone up to date with the latest health and safety measures as we know them today that we obtained from legitimate sources through some of our medical clients.
Stay home. Unless you have to go out for groceries, work, school, or other essentials, please stay home. Avoid close contact with those who are sick, elderly people, and public gatherings of 10+ people. Do not go to the doctor unless you call them first and are exhibiting severe signs of illness.
Practice social distancing. We know that many of you are probably tired of being told to practice social distancing (6 ft apart). But doing this seems to be the most important thing to do with this virus to date, since most people seem to catch it from mouth particles.
Wash your hands. Wash your hands frequently using soap and water for at least 20 seconds or the time it takes to sing the Happy Birthday Song twice. Wash your hands after you visit a public place, blow your nose, cough, or sneeze, to prevent the possible spread of disease. If you do not have access to soap and water, use hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your face as best as you can.
Clean. Viruses and germs can live on surfaces for days. It is important to disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. Surfaces include door knobs, tables, countertops, desks, remotes, phones and other electronics, light switches, handles, and bathrooms. Common EPA-registered household disinfectants, diluted bleach solution, or alcohol solution should suffice.
Stay away from the elderly. Stay away from nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The elderly and those with preexisting conditions are more susceptible to this illness.
Live a healthy lifestyle. Get plenty of sleep/rest. Stay hydrated. Drink alcohol in moderation. Eat fruits and vegetables and stick to regular mealtimes. Even though it can be tempting to splurge eating junk food at home all day, it is important to create a plan. Try sticking to standard schedules. This will keep you from feeling sluggish and boost your immunity. Since you probably can’t or shouldn’t attend the gym during the highest peak of this pandemic, try some aerobics or yoga at home, take the dog for a walk, or do some yard work.
Stay positive. A good attitude can go a long way in times of uncertainty. Although, we may be a long way from normal, we can’t get there without help from one another. Keep doing activities that make you happy, call your family, help those in your community when possible, and remain optimistic.
